June 25th 2009, I remember exactly where I was. I was sitting at Dominos (I know…don’t judge me) when the news broke over their TV: The King of Pop, Michael Jackson dead at 50 years old! I was DONE cousins…the tears came and didn’t stop. I cancelled my order and drove straight home where I cried myself to sleep. My roommate at the time tried her best to lift my spirits up but it was MIKE! Like what do you mean he’s gone? He was supposed to sing at my wedding (well that was my dream)! I felt like I lost a loved one. Michael Jackson was my introduction to music! He was the definition of it, all I listened to!
Losing MJ hurt the WORLD! We all mourned together even though I felt like no one loved him like I did. Of course all MJ fans feel like they’re his biggest fan! Prior to his passing, it was always MJ Time with me! Car rides at some point featured an MJ set whether you liked it or not! I would play his live concerts super loud on my TV and pretend I was there (I know my neighbors probably hated me lol). I have his “Moonwalker” legs tatted on the back of my leg; I should probably get that touched up! You know how they say UNO games can ruin friendships? Someone talking reckless about my boy has the same affect, I don’t play about Michael!
