Lakers star LeBron James confronted ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith courtside at last night’s Lakers game, and the internet is on fire over the exchange. A fan-recorded video of the interaction went viral, sparking debate about what was said.

Smith wasted no time addressing the confrontation on First Take this morning.

“That was not a basketball player confronting me,” Smith said. “That was a parent. That was a father.”

LeBron took issue with comments he thought Smith had made about his son, Bronny James Jr. While Smith didn’t back down, he made it clear he wasn’t upset by LeBron’s approach.

“I can’t sit here and be angry or feel slighted by LeBron James in any way,” Smith said.

The scrutiny around Bronny’s NBA career isn’t new. Many in the media, including Smith, have questioned whether Bronny would have been drafted in the second round last year if not for his father’s influence. Critics argue he hasn’t proven himself at the professional level, while others believe he deserves the opportunity to develop.

Despite the public exchange, neither LeBron nor Bronny has commented on the viral moment.

Was LeBron right to confront Smith, or did he overstep? Let us know what you think.
