This morning, reports broke that Drake was backing down from one of his lawsuits against Universal Music Group over Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us. Now it appears Drizzy was simply setting up his label for the okeydoke.
On Wednesday, Drake filed a new federal defamation lawsuit against UMG, this time upping the ante on his allegations.
According to Drake, the suit isn’t aimed at Kendrick Lamar, whose summer smash Not Like Us asserts that Drake is a pedophile.
As reported by TMZ, Drake’s new suit alleges UMG was not only aware – but complicit – in spreading the “false and malicious narrative” they knew would damage his career. Drake’s lawyers also say they have receipts to back up their claims.

From TMZ:
Drake claims his label was doing everything it could to pump up “Not Like Us” because it knew it would devalue Drake’s music and brand … and therefore give UMG leverage in future contract negotiations with Drake.
Drake’s suit also alleges UMG bought at least 30 million Not Like Us streams from a third-party, and paid at least one radio promoter to play the song from money.
The allegations in the suit don’t stop there. Drake’s team claims UMG was instrumental in getting Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime gig. Drake understands the significance of that performance, as the Super Bowl is usually the most-watched worldwide event of the year.
Do you think the NFL will allow Kendrick to use the pedophile lyrics on their biggest stage?
